Is there really life after death?

Is there really life after death?

This is the question most people wonder about, the question that makes one wake up in the middle of the night and question one’s self if death had to occur right there what happens then? But the truth is no scientist, doctor, healer, professor or engineer can answer it. While growing up as a kid we were taught that at some point we were going to die and live with the angels in a beautiful place called heaven.

Heaven was labelled as the place of purity, harmony and peace where people go to when they die if they did good while they were still alive. On the other hand there was a place called hell where one will go to if committed a sin or went against the word of God . We were taught that we will forever burn in hell had we not behaved or respected our parents, I guess those were all the lessons of life that were there to guide us and give us direction so that at the end of the day we would fear our mighty God.

Death is terrific, it happens each and every day of our lives but it cannot be accepted because it is a painful journey, unfortunately a journey that we all have to go through. Death cannot be cheated it is like a disease that sucks one’s blood out succeeds but always comes back for more. Some people even say Death is haunting them because when it comes it destroys everything and everyone. The most painful thing is that we all wonder when, how and where we going to die, truth is we will never know.

Most people have come to terms that Death will always strike and at some point we will lose the people that we love someday but the question remains what happens after one has passed on? Is there another life besides the one on Earth?  Do people forget about you when time has passed? No one knows because no one comes back to life again.

In the bible Philippians 3:20 it says “ So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice and no one will take your joy from you”

The bible continues saying in REVELATIONS 20:11-15"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

Both these verses say that there is life after death, an eternity life and people will be judged when Jesus comes back on judgement day. This supports what I wrote earlier about the two places which we were taught about and that is heaven and hell.

Some people argue that there is life after death, Nokukhanya Ndlovu believes that when a person dies they neither go to heaven nor hell but they remain buried in their graves forever because their chapter on earth has come to an end.

Either way it does not matter what one believes in as long as it feels good and right. People cannot be judged or attacked for what they believed in at the end of the day we are all different and have our own ethics and conducts.
