The dictionary explains Cult as a religion; devotion to a person or thing. The word Cult comes from Latin word cultus which means worship.
The topic today reminds me of Cult personalities, the likes of David Koresh and Jim Jones. Both men had assumed “near god” status which resulted in dire consequences.
The 17th November 2014, Talk Radio 702 interview of Minister Lindiwe Zulu by Redi Tlhabi bared testament of an individual’s unequivocal worship of a cult personality.
But that made me wonder how a supposedly intelligent and rational individual could be swayed that much by a mere mortal like her.
Many knew Lindiwe Zulu as the South Africa special envoy to Zimbabwe during that country’s political crisis. As the special envoy, she had endeared herself to some but irked Robert Mugabe the one person who regards Zimbabwe as his personal dynasty.
In a fit of rage, Mugabe had discarded into the nearest rubbish bin the so-called ‘South Africa quiet diplomacy’ and publicly hurled every possible vulgar word at Lindiwe Zulu. Those who had relegated Mugabe to pariah status were quick to shower Lindiwe with praise, although to date most do not know the circumstances that had earned her Mugabe’s ire.
We pride ourselves as a ‘model democracy’ in Africa if not the rest of the world. But the 13th November 2014 shall be remembered as the day South Africa’s bubble burst, when Parliament was seen compete with the world famous WWE. As a result that day shall go down in history as the day the so-called ‘New South Africa Parliament’ had to be invaded by the Security Police.
Even at the height of apartheid, the regime never unleashed the Security Police unto Helen Suzman inside parliament. And still the Speaker of Parliament the following day had the audacity to label her malice - Constitutional Democracy!
The EFF August 2014 debacle was the prelude to 13th November 2014, South Africa Parliament Wrestling Entertainment (SAPWE) contest. ANC, Zuma and Inkandla on the right corner, and most opposition parties on the left.
ANC, Zuma and Inkandla - Those 3 words had brought Parliament into disrepute and had earned a place in Parliament’s Wall of Shame!
It was Jacob Zuma who said he did not know what was going on at his compound and his cult members concurred with that ridiculous statement. But the same ignorant Zuma had the zeal to appoint his personal architect to oversee the so-called ‘security upgrades’.
Only those undermining the intelligence and comprehension of South Africans would want the populace to believe – A swimming-pool, tuck-shop, cattle-kraal, chicken-run, paving and Amphitheatre were necessary constructions to strengthen the security of the President.
Supposedly the ‘stupidity’ of the populace had reached pathetic status and we could never differentiate between a swimming pool and a fire pool. Zuma’s family would be swimming in a fire-pool this summer? What at an insult to the populace intelligence!
When the malice at Inkandla could not be contained any longer, a supposed ignorant Jacob Zuma appointed his own Executive to investigate themselves. By implication the Security Cluster – It was Jacob Zuma simultaneously heading the titles of player, referee, match commissioner and spectator. The Security Cluster findings were a white wash!
The Public Protector office got its mandate from the SA Constitution and the same could not be said about the Security Cluster comprising of Executive members at the mercy of the President.
Although the Public Protector at the end was able to present a final report, the President and his Security Cluster had tried every trick in the book to hamper her office investigations into the malice at Inkandla. Even when requested by the Public Protector, the President never produced evidence of him or member of his family having a mortgage agreement with First National Bank (FNB) with regard to Inkandla compound.
The jury was still out there if Jacob Zuma did mislead Parliament when he gave the assurance to having such with the (FNB) bank.
With the insistence of Jacob Zuma, then came the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) turn to investigation into Inkandla malice. It was Jacob Zuma who gave the SIU their terms of reference. Again, Jacob Zuma did not fully cooperate nor comply with his own terms of reference.
Then it was the turn of Parliamentary ANC Study-group or Adhoc-committee. The ANC Caucus did not even bother to neither investigate nor summon any witnesses contrary to the norm and practice in all Parliament Committees. The animal farm mentality of the ANC prevailed as a result and the final Inkandla report was another white wash.
Now it is the turn of the country’s courts to rule on the malice at Inkandla. Let’s just wait and see if the judiciary would be that gullible and irrational in their final findings.
Jacob Zuma had since 2009 attained Cult-persona status with ardent cheerleaders’ in-tow. I had also concluded there was very malicious intent when the ANC membership allegedly swelled in Kwazulu-Natal (KZNB) but not in other Provinces. It was by design ANC had lost support in all but one Province. Tribalism was at play there!
After the 07th May 2014 general elections the end result had proved, ANC had lost its support especially in many urban metropolitans e.g. Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay. As a result most of those serving in the ANC Caucus in Parliament owe their cozy seats and full stomachs to the ANC tribal vote of KZN.
The likes of Lindiwe Zulu know which side their bread is buttered on and their loyalty to a Cult personality and Tribe is unquestionable.
Any dissent and malicious utterance of the words “Zuma plus Inkandla” from the opposition benches shall be dealt with physically even if that means utilizing the Security Forces.
Terms and conditions apply to all Non-ANC members serving in Parliament – Honour and Worship Jacob Zuma or else!
