When it comes to this topic, the Bible is one of those Books that speak a lot about it. When Adam was created, he was not created physical, but rather a spiritual man first. We find God saying on the 6th day: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” Gen.1;26
To whom was He talking? A chapter such as Isaiah 6 will tell you God is always surrounded by worshiping Beings such as Seraphim’s. Thus speaking to spiritual beings like Himself, He said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” The first beings of both male and female were in the image of God also spiritual beings.
Later the Bible speaks of our spiritual part as the “soul”. After God made plants to grow in Eden, He on the 7th day formed a physical body from the dust of the earth, and only then placed that soul of the 6th day inside the physical flesh and Adam became “a living soul” [Gen.2:7]
Now if we really think long and hard about the way we speak of ourselves then we should agree that we also acknowledge even in our own words, that there is more to us then just flesh. You hear a man talk about his ears, his nose, his mouth, his hands, his feet. The question is if those are only your possessions, where are you?
You are that life inside that someday MUST leave your hands, feet and the rest of your body behind for others to bury, because you are no longer inside it to direct it around yourself. Come to think of it. Who built your hands, feet body and all that goes with it to begin with?
Who was that intelligent builder? LIFE. The Bible calls that life-your soul that is a spirit, like God is a Spirit. Is life nothing? It must be something if it had enough intelligence to have built its own incredible house which you call your body. Indeed it is your body as you live on the inside of it.
Life has to be a substance if it is needed to operate and navigate us around. We are incredibly built. Some of us make millions of dollars with what life has built for us from that single cell that started in the womb. But what is life? Science has not broken into those realms of life yet.
The only evidence we do have of what LIFE is, is the testimonies of those who actually left their bodies to have seen the real force that lives inside their body.
Dr Maurice Rawlings, a former atheist and heart surgeon who was left puzzled about life after death after an experience with a dying patient, decided after that incident to make a study of such cases.
For his study he interviewed mostly atheists who had such out of body experiences. There is the incredible story of College professor Howard Storm who went out with his class to Paris and there became sick, and left his body. There is also the story of Dr Whitaker, an atheist physician who suddenly became very ill with a sickness that he as a physician realized there was no hope for, but yet lived to tell his story.
