Mmusie Maimane, not who we thought

With Mr. Maimane being firstly favoured for the position and afterwards elected to be the new leader and public face of the DA has made the past few weeks since Hellen Zille made herself unavailable for the position full of speculation over just who he is. At the moment there are so many theories, analysis, predictions, speculations and I suspect some bone readings trying so understand or explain just who is Mmusi Maimane. There are off cause a few polarised ideas floating around as there are those who believe in him and those that do not believe in him and then there are those that actually want to believe he is a very bad man. The fact is no one is right if we assumed everyone’s opinion had some truth we could just assume Mmusi Maimane is any man or every man and their opposite. At this stage not even Mmusi Maimane can tell us what his future will hold and how that will affect South-Africans.

We all know that South-Africa has a unique set of problems to deal with and historically we have been trying to deal with these problems for a very long time, having some success yes but we are still a far way off from reaching the point where we can say our people have a bright future to look forward to. Do not take it lightly we crossed some serious hurdles but it would be a lie to say we have the answers that would fix all our problems.  Because we do not have the answers we cannot even comprehend what our leaders should do nor can we expect one man to already know before he even got the chance to face some of these problems to have all the answers to solve our countries problems. Therefore none of us can say we know Mmusi Maimane and know what he will achieve or won’t achieve.

Firstly let those rooting for him and frankly those opposing him be thankful and commend the man for sticking up his hand and availing himself not just as a leader but also for opening himself for criticism both from his supporters and his detractors. Then his supporters should take a moment and really start asking the question, do I want a leader who will change my fate or do I want to help my leader to change my country. You see a leader does not just lead but is also lead by the people that follow him. If the people of the DA do not unify themselves with the vision of the party and it’s leader all that could be achieved is nothing at all.

On the other hand of the coin there is a man trying to understand the people he must lead. Nothing he would like to achieve can be done without their support. Thus if we do not have the answer to the problems of South-Africa nor a leader that does what are we to do? … This is the crazy part both the leader of the DA and the people empowering this leader has to trust each other. When the time comes to deal with each of South-Africas problems they must act as a unity and back each other until the problem facing them at the time is solved. But not even this is enough as an intended leader of a coutry the leader of the DA and the people that follow the DA and its leader will have to also solve the problems of the entire South-Africa even those people who do not believe in them and the people who hate them.

Mmusi Maimane is the people he leads so if you want him to grow the numbers of the DA be his ambassador, if you want him to fight corruption be his warrior if you want him and South-Africa to succeed then work for it. If you want those that share our country with us to also share in your dream then go to them and tell them about it. If you are waiting on a leader you have no leader at all.
