Mr President

They say that one should never bring emotion into the world of politics. I don’t know who ‘they’ are but ‘they’ certainly have never felt the way that I believe the majority of South Africans are feeling now. Sad.

Today, Police Minister Nathi Nhleko delivered the Nkandla report. Thisreport in simple terms contradicts the Public Protector, Thuli Madonselas report that was given last year. The report released states that Jacob Zuma did not in fact benefit from the ridiculous upgrades to his homestead and therefore is not inclined to pay back any money.

What a horrendous show of someone in absolute power, corrupted absolutely.

Jacob Zuma, not only have you failed your country, yourself and your blind supporters, but you have failed your humanity.

While so many in our nation starve on the streets and under the bridges, you live a life of excess. Excess luxury, excess of state funds, excess of people under your beck and call, excess of chances you have been given to turn things around. You live a life of obscenity. You have become obscene, in fact I don’t remember a time since hearing your name that I’ve been proud to call you a fellow south African.

You are guilty of many things, things you have seemed to slink away from. You are not an honourable man; in fact you are not a man at all. A man would take responsibility for himself. People take responsibility for their actions, and those who do not are quite simply cowards. You are a coward. I believe that you have bought and sold your way into your position; on the taxpayers’ dime I might add. More than that you have blatantly laughed at those who are truly passionate about the wellbeing of the people in this country.

Yes, today, amongst other days like the State of the Nation Address 2015, I feel emotional. I feel defeated.

I sit in traffic during loadshedding, comfortable in my car and I see poverty. It is lining the streets and it is on your doorstep, Mr. President. Hands outstretched and we have nothing more to give each other. Hands outstretched and they are shivering from the cold. You have locked them out from opportunities. Sir, you have slammed the door on opportunities for the people of this country. Have you no shame? Can you not feel that the people, under your government, who have trusted in you, are suffering?

I only hope that from here, we can finally say that this is the last straw. I hope that today all of us can agree on one thing. You, Jacob Zuma are not capable of running South Africa, nor do you deserve to.
