Local Religious Based Organisation Cape Town Islamic Educational Centre (CTIEC), have launched a campaign “Donate Halaal” that will assist the rescue personnel and fire fighters who are battling a blaze on Cape Town’s south peninsula since the weekend. According to organisations spokesperson Sayed Ridhwaan “the CTIEC is embarking on this campaign after social media messages were passed requesting Halaal meal packs”.
CTIEC is encouraging the community of Cape Town to donate drinks and Halaal food to these heroes in any quantities, even the smallest donation will assist the fire fighters.
The massive fires have spread from Boyes Drive in Muizenberg to Noordhoek, Hout Bay and Westlake due to strong winds. Over 600 fire fighters have been battling the blazes in the region since Saturday.
Sayed Ridhwaan said the organisation together with the Volunteers and Students will try to assist everyday for as long as required. There will be no charge for the service and CTIEC will maintain the true spirit of UBUNTU.
“Generosity is a virtuous trait that every Muslim should strive to attain. As for the believer who closely adheres to the teachings of Islam, kindness and giving from what he has become part of his good character. This is an open invitation to help the heroes who are fighting the fire in our beautiful country” added Sayed Ridhwaan.
CTIEC Volunteers and staff has gathered at the Centre to prepare meals, The Organisation will be delivering meals to the Fire Station later this afternoon; plans are also on its way for a Mass Prayer to protect our brave fire fighters from any harm, details to be announced soon. The greater Muslim community is requested to remember the fire fighters and all that are involved in their duas.
