Cape Town - The average waiting time for a police officer to arrive if you called the 10111 number during an emergency is 19 minutes.

I recently tried calling 10111 and the operator could barely speak English. After about 5 minutes of her trying to take my phone number and name i eventually gave up and put the phone down.
Would be quicker to call 911.

Last week I tried to contact my nearest police station on their land line after I was involved in an accident. It kept ringing without an answer. Paramedics came to my rescue and told me that numbers is only ringing at the police.

I have had to use 10111 a while back. I stay in Sasolburg, so if you phone 10111, you get through to Joburg and the people who pick up the phone have no idea that Sasolburg even exists. They can’t even put me through to Sasolburg, instead they give you a number for Vereeniging and you then eventually get Sasolburg's number from them. All of this takes about 40 minutes, that’s if they answer the phones.

Was in hi-jack situation in Eeufees road. Sped off and wanted to alert police to the threat, 10111 NEVER answered the call. Eventually phoned Valhalla Police Station who answered the call.

Twice I've apprehended criminals and tied them up with my belt and held them at bay with my firearm at my side. I phoned 10111 on both occasions and after waiting several hours for the police to come I had to eventually let them go free with a warning. Once was in durbanville 500m from the police station and another incident took place in Knysna. The knysna police just never came at all.

I lived down the street from the police literally a block away it took them an hour to respond after i managed to get the number of the station and called them directly.

Some of us we get help after 12 hours they will tell you that there's is no ven they went to a complaint at farms and they have one vehicle but when you arrive at police station ven are parked at yard they will tell you warrant officer what what took the keys.
