Plettenberg Bay 2014 Crime Statistics

As it has since 2009, crime in Bitou Municipality a.k.a. Plettenberg Bay continues to grow. However, at 3% that is less than the national average and not as quickly as the 4.6% in the neighbouring town of Knysna only 30km away.

Despite the escalation of total crimes from 2990 to 3090, there has been a notable drop in business and residential robberies - something is definitely been done correctly there. Unfortunately, they have also suffered from the Western Cape's growth in drug related crimes which likely accounts for the worrying increase in common assault and assault with the intent to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH) cases.

Note that the crime year of 2013/2014 will hereafter be referred to as 2014.
