Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
Christians believe in God using the gift of faith - which they receive from God, when they believe in him. That might sound like circular reasoning to rational people but to the faithful it makes sense.
Hebrews 11:6 says “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists …”
In order to believe in God you have to believe that he exists in the first place. So to Christians God exists by faith. Of course the God they believe in, is trinity God: the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Hebrew tribal god, Yahweh) and Father of Jesus Christ the Son of God and the Holy Ghost.
They reject, disbelieve and have no faith in any of the other thousands of gods worshipped today and through out history. They are atheists to all other gods.
You see there lays the dilemma once you have decided that it’s okay to have faith, in one special God, you have set yourself up for erroneous thinking. You have to accept the idea that engaging in the fallacy of special pleading can lead to absolute truth.
So the very act of having faith and in who you have faith entails the abandonment of intellectual integrity, the embracing of shoddy thinking, and a commitment to the lowest epistemic standards.
Does that sound foolish or wise to you? The person, who tries to have faith but also is determined to pursue only the highest standards and avoid fallacious thinking, must then open himself up to having faith in every god thought to exist by mankind, until such time as they can be disproved.
Well that is impossible because the human mind is not set up to do this - and of course the gods would become jealous and obliterate you from the face of the earth as you pursue their bona fides before you accept them and begin to worship them to death.
Now, if trinity God were real, he could easily avoid this problem of having to enjoin upon his followers that they abandon their intellectual integrity, and simply supply evidence. Or failing that, he could refuse to care if you have "faith" in him or not. If he is real, he does not have to engage in this charade of needing the gift of faith, now does he?
However, not only does God say it is not a "sin" to abandon one's integrity, he practically commands it, requiring people to adopt the lowest possible intellectual standards on pain of eternal damnation!
No god worth worshipping would pursue such a course of action which implies the fact that more likely, he is a human construct.
So seeing this God has all the bluffing and threatening of a conman or an ANC government trying to enforce E tolls we can unambiguously rule out trinity God.
He has failed the test by commanding that people engage in the intellectually irresponsible act of bad thinking. In fact he requires that we crucify our logic on the cross and become as little children.
The fool says with equal certainty that there is a God because of special pleading instead of special evidence!
