R 19 billion and 36 000 ghost employees later –

The Northwest Province has set a record, no not a local record, nor a national record, but for that matter and international record!

It has on its payroll 36 000 ‘ghost employees’ who are being diligently paid every month, without even working for the Provincial Government.

Of its entire provincial budget R 19 billion was paid out as salaries to people not working for them, and nobody cared to ask they were paying so much in salaries, as compared to Organogram and Budgeted expenditure?

One can safely assume that monthly such expenditure was reported to the Legislature of the Province, but amongst all of those that are members, none ever questioned the excessive salaries bill and its ratio to overall expenditure in the province.

Would that be that all and everyone actually benefitted from this massive scandal!

Amazingly the ruling party has been conspicuously silent in their comments on the matter, as this must be one of the greatest embarrassments that could ever be included in their supposed accolades of good, clean, transparent, accountable governance?

Only opposition parties are stirring the water, but one need to ask, who all received this kind of billions illegally, unlawfully and fraudulently? Will those responsible for ‘creating the fictitious employees’ ever be brought to book, will the money ever be recovered, and all those involved charged with fraudulent criminality in the worst possible way – I very much doubt!

And this is exactly how the people of the province are suffering at the hands of the ruling party, where their wallets are more important to stuff to its maximum capacity than to ever even worry about service delivery and for that matter the lack of service delivery that exists.

How can any voter in the upcoming elections of 2016 trust the government of the day with anything when it cannot even see how it fraudulently infringed on service delivery, all at the cost of personal greed.

That the government should be lifted out of their comfort zone, and stand on the winner’s podium of the ‘golden medal winners of corruption, theft and fraud’ is not even a doubt it is a fact.

That they can be trusted after 2016 – an unequivocal no, no and another no – don’t let them fool you once again by stealing and not even being ashamed of the extent and magnitude of this debacle – an embarrassment par excellance to say the least.
