With the ongoing Afrophobia attacks going on in our country, I decided to write a poem to ask the fellow South African of where are we headed to, On the 27th April we will be celebrating Freedom Day but really what are we celebrating when we still attack fellow Africans, where is the preached peace and unity, where is Ubuntu.
South Africa where are we going.
South Africa, oh! what a beautiful country you are./
The beauty that rose from bruised hearts/
Beauty that came from broken bones, taken lives and segregation scars/
Scars from wars/
The battle of the superior race/the battle that erupted out of hate/
The battle that left many with gross memories, memories hard to just forget the past and run to future for greater and better escape/
Oh! NUBIA! The treason trial, the assassinations, the arrest of our leaders in cold prison cells and some even on the island jails/
Oh Azania you are a free nation but yet I find myself crying for freedom/
South Africa you still reek of apartheid/
Yes, you Africa, you Azania, jy suid afrika, wena Aforika Borwa/
The ongoing battle of who is better than who to rule the state/ xenophobic attacks, Marikana massacre, fights in parliament & who is to take the blame /
Happy freedom day, but really where is freedom to celebrate?/
The tears in our faces? , our hearts torn in pain?/
South Africa have our votes gone to waste/?
The storm is brewing, would we manage to hail/
We preaching unity and peace, but to act we fail/
Our land is marked with blood stains/
Our freedom, our minds, our souls ,peace, love ,all that still locked in chains/
Oh! South Africa what have you come to?/
What's with the Afrophobia?/
Africa, who should come to unite us/
Who should come to end this hate amongst us?/
South Africa where is freedom? South Africa where is Ubuntu ? what happened to be African before being a South African ?
