As a foreign national staying in South Africa and having stayed in a lot of African countries i should say South Africa is an African country by a mere accident of geography, that I an say without doubt, otherwise where else in Africa do you find a piddling government official tossing the president the way that country’s pit-bull Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is doing to hapless Jacob Zuma?
Only a few weeks ago the “Dancing President” was given 14 days within which to indicate when he would be paying back a good part of the R246 million that he and his family, she insists, improperly benefitted from when his homestead in Nkandla was treated to what was disguised as “security upgrade”.
Madonsela has made it clear that Zuma should pay back nearly half of the money spent on his compound, as most of the upgrades were not of security nature. Others like the new opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) led by Julius Malema have been rather abrasive, openly accusing Zuma of being a common thief and even lodging a report with the police!
Only last week EFF legislators disrupted parliament after Zuma had pointedly ignored questions on when he was going to start coughing up!
Like really speaking where in Africa can such things happen?
