“The crowning fortune of man is to be born to some pursuit which finds him employment and happiness, whether it be to make baskets, or broadswords, or canals, or statues, or songs.” ? Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Whatever your calling is, you are fortunate enough. But you will need to define your goals and recoil from any excuses for not attaining them. Through my interactions, I have learnt that successful people don’t wait to be tapped, to be experienced, to be chosen, to be appointed, or to be nominated. They start before they feel ready. They tell themselves that it doesn’t matter where they stand at the moment, as long as they have the will to start. They don’t dwell on whether or not it’s their fault they are in their current situations. They don’t blame their parents for being poor and lack of finances to advance their education. They don’t blame the government and societal institutions for lack of job opportunities. They never blame the world for their woes and setbacks. They rise above all odds to emerge the best. They say to themselves, “This is who I am and it’s my responsibility to do something about it.” “This is what I have and this is what I can do with it”.
There are many goals in life that require a lot of struggle. The choice to realize what fortune you have and how best you can utilize it is essential in being successful. Start where you are, believe in yourself and your capabilities even when you have no connections, when you are inexperienced, or when you are poor and lack resources. There is so much power in believing in oneself, in being optimistic, in being content and in being Creative. These values will guide you in maximizing on your talents, and bringing out all you’ve got, your best.
