The Essence of Salvation: Do you want to live forever?

By: Tlhologelo Desire Magolela 2014-08-07 15:03
Having to experience life- to exist, do you want to lose that because of your stubbornness to accept the Author of life? Revealing Himself through the written spoken word and beauty of the order of the universe, God has given man enough evidence of his love and mightiness. John 3:16 is clear_that man who believe in Christ are not to perish but have life eternal, life which does not end. But we to ask first; How did life begin as it were? "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the Seventh day..."-Genesis 1:1 & Exodus 20:11.
And on the 6th day he formed man out of the dust of the ground- wet clay. For he caused it on the earth to be watered before creating man from it. See Genesis 2:6, 7. One of the trees which God assigned to man for food to enjoy was a tree of life in the midst of the garden of Eden. This very tree was to perpetuate the life of the holy couple if they only had obeyed the clear expressed word of Jehovah. This is illustrated by the fact that after their disobedience were now forbidden to eat of that tree, which could've resulted in them living forever- immortal sinners (Genesis 3:24).

Here the lesson of salvation is depicted: Only can man attain everlasting life by obedience thus able to gain access to the tree of life, but should he disobey then he cannot attain it. This John in Revelation 22:14 testify of: "Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city[New Jerusalem]." So does the law of God, the precepts, still valid? If Christ had nailed them to the cross as some would suggest, then while would they be a requirement to enter the city and to eat of the tree that perpetuate life?"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."- 1 John 5:3.

Can we then keep God's law by ourselves? No. For the carnal mind does not want the things of God. Thus Christ had to come and live the law in human flesh that whosoever come to Him can be given power to keep his holy unchanging precepts through faith in the Only begotten of the Father. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."- says Christ in John 15:5. So what do we say then? Are we saying man is saved by works? God forbid. Good works are a result of faith in Christ; "Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."- James 2:17

After reading this brief report you may ask like the people in Pentecost: "Men and brethren, what shall we do? Answer: "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."- Acts 2:31,38.
