Early last year (2013) I picked up a stray cat. Her mommy was hit by a car. So I took petty on her and took her in.
But unfortunately I lost my job and also got divorced. This cat, Ginger, was a great relief for my then 3.5year old girl. The divorce took it’s toll on my girl and she regressed badly, even to the point where she became a baby again…..
This cat was like a blessing at that stage. Even now the love the two of them share is amazing. Whenever my child is sick or just not feeling well, that cat is just such a comfort. She (Ginger) follows her everywhere and sleeps with her and just doesn’t leave her sight….
But because she was a stray cat and I was jobless I couldn’t afford to have her sterilized. Now she had babies (very adorable) and I’m still not in a full-time position, I phoned the SPCA to ask for their help.
The price for female sterilization is R650.00. I don’t have money like that just lying around…..
But I love that cat and my little girl even more so. They are sooooooo close…..
I offered to pay R200.00 towards a sterilization just to keep the cat. I really can’t afford for her to have babies again because it cost a lot of money to support the kittens as well. Luckily I have found owners for all of them.
But the SPCA is not willing to help. They told me to rather hand the cat over……
“Just bring your child’s best friend in and we’ll try to get someone to adopt her and if we can’t…. well… then we’ll just put her down…. No problem..
Wow…. I can really just feel the love….!!!!
