Remember when Jacob Zuma was fighting rape and corruption charges? That’s when he was at his best; remember his highly suggestive dance moves that garnered him the title “Sexiest Man Alive in South Africa”, remember his passionate rendition of the freedom song “mshin wam” that had us eating out of his hand? Mbeki did him the biggest favour by booting him out based purely on hearsay, we wouldn’t hear of it, “these charges must be politically motivated, drop them at once” we chanted………the past as they say, is history, we were fools but what could we do? We had no real choice, or should I say, I had no real choice.
This Maimane fellow from the DA was as boring as an 80 year old German padre and does not seem to relate to our country’s history and the struggles of the ordinary person in the street, particularly the downtrodden. I say “WAS boring” because sitting side by side with the EFF in Parliament appears to have injected a great deal of life into him of late; be that as it may, he still would mumble and stumble and pile your plate high with BS if you were to ask him the simple question: “What are you guys in the Cape doing about apartheid-created inequality in the city voted ‘The Most Unequal City in the World’?”. Zille as an immigrant from abroad whose parents fled the hardships of war-torn Europe in search of a better life in South Africa should know better however she blocks land and economic reform at every turn, she pushes anti-poor agendas’ and tries to convince all and sundry that interventions to normalize our society are not required. Much is made of her womens’ march and yet she and her party did not believe in a vote for us all, fighting rather for a qualified franchise where they would choose who was to be given the vote. Suffice to say, I’m no fan of that party or of Patricia who handed over her supporters to the DA on a silver platter.
I pray that the tired old men in the ANC can soon step aside once and for all, there’s someone who sold us out bracing himself for the top spot, Gwede too, they should just make way for the younger generation and stop behaving like the Tony Leons’, Robert Mugabes’ and Helen Zilles’ of this world who cling onto their positions for dear life.
