Xenophobia and SA's reputation

The recent spate of the so called ‘xenophobia’ attacks against foreigners that started in Cape Town, then spread to Durban, with Johannesburg to follow and now even the East Rand (Benoni and Primrose) now amounts to nothing more than ‘criminal activities’ with ‘xenophobia’ being called and used as the maître, and is as a result of the unemployment, poverty, greed, and lack of education especially so amongst the youths and all those that are responsible for the looting of the shops, killing innocent people in the process, and then all of this broadcast all over the world as the present state of affairs in South Africa.

The damage and dent that it is causing to the reputation of South Africa as a democracy can not be measured in any kind of financial terms as we already see a downturn of tourist to the country, downgrading of shares to ‘junk status’, the government having to increase its foreign loans and paying more than R 100 billion, that is R 100 000 000 000 in interest alone on these loans, a negative balance of trade where we import much more than what we locally can or will produce, making us more and more dependent on imported items, as we cannot and will not manufacture them locally as our minimum wage exceeds the production cost of importing the item)as foreign investors in the country evaluate their risk of losing the money taken the present circumstances that prevail.

Can we really blame them for the way in which they think of us at the moment – an unequivocal (clear, plain, unambiguous, unmistakable, explicit, indisputable, undeniable, obvious, definite) NO!

If I was any foreign investor I would require that the place in which I decide to invest my money, has financial security, a growing economy and is governed without maladministration, mismanagement and corruption, I would definitely not even in my wildest imagination consider South Africa as it stands at the moment as a country in which I would invest my money, as in all likelihood, the lack on return of my investment would be conspicuously absent, the growth-rate in the economy is at a mere 1.2% and unemployment is at a staggering 28% with unemployment amongst the youth, irrespective of them having the qualifications stands at a staggering 38%, and the consequence is nothing but ‘criminality’ with the maître as being considered as an attack on foreigners that take over the job opportunities that locals are denied! What job opportunities are they talking about? They are so uninformed that they use the ‘criminal behaviour’ as an excuse for their actions and then call it ‘xenophobia’ whereas they truly do not even understand the meaning of the word, and use the opportunity under the maître of supplementing their income or selling the loot to be able to sustain their habits of drug addiction and everything that comes with it.

Xenophobia means a grudge against a foreigner and as Jacob Zuma in Parliament stated that the so called xenophobia is actually Africana phobia against all those citizens of countries that provided exile to ANC members and never treated them in such a despicable manner, where they were treated with dignity, respect, provided with free education, and never killed, maimed (mutilated, injured, hurt, harmed, damaged, disfigured, defaced, marred, spoiled, dismembered, wounded) and murdered for being South Africans.

We need to hide our heads in shame for what is happening at the moment, but then as Julius Malema, when he for once spoke the truth, it is all at the hands of one man to be blamed, and then his son, even provocating the actions as being correct and that man is none other than Jacob Zuma that has to take full responsibility as to the state of our Nation that has slipped into the doldrums (stagnation, lethargically [wearily, lazily, tiredly, languidly, indolently, sluggishly, slowly, lifelessly, listlessly]) positions that we find ourselves in at the moment and all because of him that lacks in leadership beyond recognition, that can only sing, dance and smile with that devious smile that deceits everyone.

We should get rid of the man, and the question is not when, but rather sooner than later, and that sooner is NOW!
