A weekend in Bloem

Okay so since my news feed has been flooded with posts regarding the gathering in Bloem this weekend, I feel the need to also give my 2 cents.

So it seems that that man Christians so admire (who's? a brilliant misogynist and excellent homophobe by the way), managed to flock a staggering 1.7 million of them together. An impressive figure indeed, just imagine the possibilities such a large group holds. Instead of taking actual action, they've found murmuring to an absent deity the best use of their sheer numbers and also their time.

Firstly, just imagine what could be done with at least R10 from each of these individuals. R10 is far less than what these people had in travel costs alone. How it might improve the lives of the less fortunate people out on the streets, that they are to self righteous to even look at. What this amount of money might do if used as funding for important medical research. How many children's homes will be well stocked if they would've received these donations?

Secondly, these people are amongst the rest of us living under a corrupt government. One they themselves spend so much time complaining about. Imagine a 1.7 million person coup to actually overthrow this government, instead of wishful praying for things to get better.

This is not too mention what a weekend of good deeds performed by 1.7 million might entail.

The purpose of this post is not to attack or offend their beliefs. No. It is a call to realisation. The realisation that actions speak so much louder than prayers, and the sooner this realisation is accepted; the better.
