Are the FeesMustFall and Decolonisation adherents anymore credible than the SJW’s?

Are the FeesMustFall and Decolonisation adherents anymore credible than the SJW’s?

The SJW or Social Justice Warrior is a term to describe an individual who repeatedly and vehemently engages in arguments on social justice often in a shallow or not well-thought-out way, for the purpose of raising their own personal reputation.

The RhodesMustFall morphed into the FeesMustFall and then denigrated into the Decolonisation of the Sciences. And if you listen to the rhetoric and irrational ideas put forth they are all shallow and not well thought out - so yep they are SJW’s and no one should take them seriously.

You cannot erase history. They want to erase history.  You cannot get a job without a first class global education. They want to denigrate education to a localised level and still think that they will be gainfully employed in a global village world.

Free education is not possible in a developing country especially in SA where you have hundreds of billions if not trillions of tax payers Rand lost to corruption and state capture.

If our government was efficient and effective at service delivery with tax payer’s money there might be more money available than what is currently used to subsidise the poor students – but they are not. So the first thing our students should do instead of rioting and burning down university buildings is to vote in an honest, competent and accountable free market government.

University education is a privilege - not a right.  If you are academically superior you will have no problem in obtaining a bursary or a bank loan and doors will open for you as if by magic. The problem is that most students should not even be at university because statistics tell us that plenty students thanks to our dysfunctional schooling system drop out in the first year.

Students wanting to decolonise the curriculum are forgetting that they are being taught nine hundred years of accumulated peer reviewed scientific knowledge from the entire world base of knowledge and if what they wanted to see added to the curriculum passed the test of time it would already be there. The fact that it is not, means it should not be there – that is if you want a decent world class academic universal education.

So how does a modern universal education dehumanise people? Can somebody tell me? Is it not true that much of our universal knowledge today has been generated by white people? That cannot be changed.

In fact it is impossible to thrive and succeed in the modern world without understanding their contribution. True universities have absolutely no interest in the race of the originators of knowledge and they do not propagate cultural or intellectual boundaries.

But the Decolonisation adherents would like to see students cut off from the great pool of global knowledge and culture that is essential for the future success of South Africa and fail to realise that it is suicidal to even attempt at dismissing white peoples contributions.

South Africa is a country for all who live in it, irrespective of skin colour and cultural background. So let’s respect what the white man has achieved in this world as well as the black mans contributions.
