Hello Susan, while it may be true that medical schemes are technically not registered as organisations for profit does not mean that the medical scheme provider is not making a profit.
Typically your medical scheme will contract out its sourcing of medical professionals and resources to another company.
This other company will however be under the umbrella of the holding company, thus the provider of your medical scheme can legally make a profit even if the scheme itself is not breaking even.
