One thing which has become increasingly clear is that ultimate power and vast wealth are too often inextricably linked. This applies not only here in South Africa but globally. A quick reluctant glance at the US as they deal, daily, with their new President bears that out with terrifying clarity.
Here in sunny South Africa it appears that the gloves are off as Brian Molefe is set to be sworn in as an MP. After his ignominious departure from Eskom, this appointment has come as a shock for many, even within the ANC.
In the interests of saving not only time but clearly vast sums of money, why doesn’t Our Great Breeder (no apologies required ) simply appoint all the Gupta brothers as MP’s? Cut out the middle man. It is obviously Zuma’s intention to ‘share’ South Africa (or rather South Africa’s wealth) with his dear and close friends, so why not streamline the process, save time and avoid the inevitable ‘compensation’ payable to those who will subsequently be summarily dismissed.
From that premise, given the discussions around moving Parliament from Cape Town to Pretoria, it would be a simple matter to change the location slightly and make Saxonwold the new home of Parliament. Cut out the middle man – it makes so much sense and once again would save the time and money involved in the endless drives down the e-toll road between Pretoria and that famous or infamous shebeen.
Economics must prevail surely – cut out the middle man.
