Don't show me the money, just show me the light!

I would like start off by noting that this is not a smear campaign against News24, it an article highlighting the morbid interests that our civilization deems newsworthy in today's day and age.
I read News24 every morning on the train to work, I check News24 regularly on my desktop at work then I review News24 again on my way home from work. Recently the news has become so depressing that I actually avoid news totally, I prefer to increase my ignorance level to a certain point then I check the news for something positive then alas – epic fail, the subscriber you have dialled is not available, klop.

I would like to highlight a summary of the depressing content found under some of the News24 tabs. I am hoping that the world will see this News24 Blitz as a challenge and reciprocate by highlighting some positive reports of activities around the world – because to be honest I am feeling kind of down at the moment.

News

Lets go …

South Africa:

Everybody is just hating on Uncle Jake, insincere election campaigning (some people are just plain false), people shooting each other, Oscar Pistorious, corruption, SABC taking News for a P and poverty.

World:

ISIS, suicide bombings, shooting, racism, Donald Trump.

Africa:

This section just highlights the long term effect that colonialism has had on a continent rich in natural resources. Boom. When are our girls coming back?

Economy:

Bottom line stays the same – cost of living will go up regularly, then they rub it in by highlighting the one in a million business success stories and go on to promote stories on Binary Code which are total BS.

Sport:

Bafana Bafana for what? Springbok optimism, CSA rebuilding, Rio struggling to gear up for the Olympics and for some strange reason the Zika virus keeps popping up.

Entertainment:

The Kardashians and Taylor Swift – WTF, all the time? Stop trying to force Kendal on me, Celebrities from the 90’s either dying or being exposed, 7de Laan imploding and a promotion of recent movies that to be honest aren’t that great.

Tech:

A nice summary of all the nice things I can’t afford. Pokemon GO. Cell phone industry gossip.

Weather:

Not enough rain. Drought.

Come on guys what am I missing here? What happened to good news?

I’m going to take a train home now, would be nice if the trains could be on time and you could surprise me with some positivity.
