I often wonder why this show has become so popular and have still not managed to read the books which for as a writer is usually far better than watching it come to life on screen.
Game of Thrones began as something to watch because it brought back what was missing in film which was epic tales with big productions, however the story line is a little bleak and what could have ended after one season has managed to be spread across for years with viewers waiting in anticipation to see what is going to happen next.
I have enjoyed watching the series but it is a huge frustration for me as waiting for an entire year to finally get 10 episodes where only the final two in the series have any action is a little bit annoying and as we have gone through the episodes I have studied each one very carefully by getting to know the characters and studying exactly what happens in each episode with a conclusion that the marketing for this series is where the real talent lies as there is so much hype before the series arrives and it is at a time when you think to yourself that you can’t remember what has happened in the last season, you don’t really care because life has happened in the meantime and you may as well forget it about only to be reminded that your year of waiting was worth it as the scandal and press releases information about what travesty will be happening when it finally airs and so we get suckered into watching it again.
I liked the idea of a big production, big cast and the epic tales but dragging on what could have been a mini – series has left us with a very predictable ending.
Everything that has happened so far is about to all join together in and ending where I would assume that the seven kingdoms will come together to fight the nightwalkers leaving Khaleesi into becoming the true queen of the seven kingdoms as only her dragons can take out the nightwalkers in a rapid manor.
As for the Stark family, it is good to see that they have finally woken up and grown a pair now all that is needed is for the kid with the visions to finally be slapped senseless so that he can serve some purpose other than to be pulled around while he sleeps through the entire series oh yes Bran is his name and Sanza Stark finally became a person with her own identity, who knows perhaps she might lead her family into becoming the leaders once again. As for her sister Arya, well I thought big things would happen there but she went through the entire training with the “many faces” and left with absolutely nothing but endless episodes of useless storylines.
As for the brother sister duo and the people on the other side, I am hoping that the King will get a spanking, Jaime will go off with Brienne of Tarth and that Cersei will give Margaery a good slap after she takes care of the Sparrows.
At the end of it all, we have one episode to go and we all know that nothing really spectacular is going to happen except for the showing of the nightwalkers once again but it will be enough to leave us wanting more and will definitely make us wait for an entire year to see the next 10 episodes stretched out for an entire season of nothing much happening but marketing for the show will continue to ensure that we are all baited and readily waiting in anticipation.
