Events surrounding ruthless assault of an innocent South African model by an incorrect-able and uncontrollable craze wife of a 94 year old dictator Robert Mugabe, Grace has created cans of unanswered questions in the African and South African law and order system. Grace assaulted an innocent 20 year old Johannesburg model with an electric cord with an intention to cause grievous bodily harm, and she succeeded. A bruised face with scars and cuts that required stitches to the face is more than exhibit any prosecution authority needed to charge the offender. An assault in front of a 10 men bodyguards, ensuring that the young victim would not escape or defend herself. I am not talking about the torture of being captive and being hostage in your own country. So then where on earth would you feel safe when such things can happen in your own homeland and perpetrated by a foreigner protected by your own government.
After the young lady reported the case to police, I was left more than stunned and by the comments made by the minister of police. Responding to reporters on the question on imminent arrest of Gucci “Disgrace”, Fikile Mbalula had the guts to tell the nation that , they could not arrest her because she handed herself over voluntarily. Now this is the point, if any other South African citizen had committed the same crime, then handover himself or herself to the police, will the same offender be set free and allowed to go home?. Is that the standard police order of execution?. No this is not true I know of several cases of South African citizens rotting in remand prison awaiting their day in court for either domestic violence or assault charges.
Now, does it mean if you are some President’s wife, you are free to commit crimes as you wish and you are protected. South Africa need answers and we need them today. Disgrace Mugabe should have been arrested and only released after court appearance. Now this is how the question on everybody’s lips, “How did Grace left the country when the minister had told the nation that she will be appearing in court later during the day”?.
