All those who want to chop Helen Zille's head off should be consistent.
She mentioned some positive things about this country's colonial legacy and that is suddenly regarded as a deadly sin and heresy of the worst kind.
Those who criticize her ought to stop doing it in English. English is, after all, a colonial language! Rather use Afrikaans or another indigenous language. Those who scream bloody murder ought to stop sending their children to school or university, visit a doctor or the hospital when they are ill, drink water from the tap, wear clothes bought in a shop, using their cell phones, cooking their meals on electric stoves, supporting a soccer team and watching television.
All these things are, after all, inventions of our previous colonial masters. If everything colonial is evil, then those who want to crucify Helen Zille have to do away with all the things listed above. Please be consistent!
Really, what did Helen Zille do wrong? She only spoke the truth. Of course, colonialism cannot ever be regarded as a good thing or praised. South Africa suffered very long under our Dutch and English colonial masters. Likewise, apartheid was an evil system and we can only be grateful that we have been liberated from that. But we have inherited quite a number of things from our erstwhile colonial masters that we gladly utilise today.
So - dear DA, stop this stifling political correctness by emulating the corrupt ANC and keep your hands off Helen Zille. Otherwise, you will only end up by being branded ANC Lite.
