“If this is to end in Fire we will all burn together….”
Quoted from recently popular song I found these words to be uncannily appropriate in the current climate of destruction in our beautiful country.
Our country it seems is awash with irony…so much is born here in nature …in hope …. in reconciliation and so much destroyed…. by greed and short-sightedness of a few in power and our people are growing weary of it...taking to the streets and showing their dissatisfaction by igniting destruction...
I pondered why it was always Fire…why was there such need to burn… people necklaced, roads turned into streets of flames...buildings destroyed...trains...buses... burn, burn, burn
Often serial killers are prone to acts of fire starting in their youth…to burn something is to exercise the utmost power…to control; to reduce to ashes…to turn repair into unrepairable disrepair… Are the people of our country so frustrated? Do they feel so powerless in their attempts to gain a semblance of acknowledgement from a government that has long forgotten the woes of the people who voted them into positions where they could do good. A government who with the exception of a few isolated beacons of hope is merely lining its own pocket...
So our people burn... as a Gorilla beats its chest or a Lion roars to warn you of an infringement.... Our people are tired, helpless and powerless and thus cry for attention in the only manner powerful enough to defeat this abandonment…all-consuming Fire.
Sit up Zuma , sit up government …you are the accelerant and your attitude is lighting the match…our country burns because of you…
And if this is to end in Fire.... we will all burn together….
