Dear Hon Solly Msimanga
It is so unfortunate that you have decided to come with a populist decision of building the wall in Mahube Vally.
Community clash today and you wake up the following morning wanting to build a wall? What is a rationality of that decision? Who took that decision? What is a short and long term impact of that wall? How will it contribute in social cohesion, unity building and reviving the spirit of togetherness among our people? How much will it cost? Under normal circumstances, you should have answered all these questions, before jumping to apartheid coward reaction. You must know Hon Mayor that you are building an evil wall of segregation, the wall of apartheid just like the wall of Berlin Wall or US President Trump's, just like the Israeli West Bank barrie.
Earlier this year, DA apartheid mentality was exposed when Mmusi Maimane visited Israel. This wall thing might be one of the lessons learned from the apartheid government. We must not treat the symptoms, but the course, such a decision can't just be taken overnight. We can’t build a community in a way that whenever people are clashing, we than decide to build a wall. How many walls are we going to build by the end of Solly’s term.
You aren’t in government alone, go back to other city leaders, engage them, surely you didn't engage them. Withdraw this wall thing before further embarrassing yourself and your organization. Give people what they want, give them electricity, influence those with authority of building RDP houses to do so. You allowed people to invade land illegally, deal with it but don’t further divide our people.
Solly I know you are a good man. Do the right thing Hon Mayor
