Reasons for the President to resign are overwhelming. Apart from those listed in your article there is the volume of lies to parliament, court affidavits and to the public. There is the lie to parliament that he did upgrades to Nkandla financed by an FNB loan. FNB denied having given such loan. So how about the truth? There is the lie contained in Minister Nathi Mthetwa's report on Nkandla to parliament, that a luxury expensive swimming pool is actually a fire pool. The President appointed Mthetwa and take responsibility for reports by the Minister to parliament. At no point did the President prevent or afterwards distance himself from the lie by his Minister and therefore identified himself with that lie to parliament.
The same applies to the open air amphitheater and health clinic on Nkandla premises which is obviously not security upgrades. The President was and is under oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of the country, but allowed these lies by his appointee to remain. There is the loan of R7,8 million the president obtained from Vembe bank against the bank's own rules. There is the misrepresentation to parliament about the "funny democracy", which by his implication only allow him to discharge a minister found to be wholly incompetent by court, if she is found guilty of a crime.
This, as he well know is a totally false statement and a lie. There is the Intelligence Report the President used to justify the sacking of ex-Minister Ghordan, which the President then denied existed and have recently been pointed out a a lie as the President used the Intelligence Report to explain to the SACP why he had to dismiss Ghordan.
The list of lies, deceptions and misuse of office continues. So does the incompetence, financial misappropriation of funds, corruption, nepotism and lies by the ministers appointed by the President continue and for which as President as the person who appointed the ministers, is responsible. No, it is not a question of reasons for the President to go, but an ANC that has forsaken the people of South Africa.
