So there you have it folks. The Public Protector has ordered Parliament to amend the Constitution. While the merits of which shall be argued for the forseeable future this bares to show that what can now not be disputed is which side of her slice of bread has butter on it. This she knows this very well and the amount of arrogance and contempt shown reveals that there is nothing you can do about it. You need to just sit down and deal with it. That is the message; loud and clear.
I found it very telling that she would be so stern and articulate when answering all questions that I would have deemed were framed in a way in which she would view them hostile but come the question of whether she would oppose Jacob Zuma’s opposition to the original Public Protector’s findings and she could not string together three consecutive words. She fumbled her way through and the journalist had to intervene and seek clarity from her and ask her directly what she had meant. The journalist had to say the words and then she said yes. It was a bit easier for her after that.
Smokes and mirrors. Even a taxi driver whose teachers barely saw his head in high school is able to tell you without a shadow of a doubt that she does not have the authority to order a change in the constitution. She herself knows this fact very well. What then is she trying to achieve? What is the motive for this move?
To understand this we must look at the overall game. Let us take a step back and look at the whole picture. We all know the primary objective is to keep number one away from jail by any means necessary. While there has been many efficient puppet tools used the most effective one so far has been to stall for time. Now, how much would this buy?
