In response to Robert Nel’s concern raised in reply to my article titled: Oscar – “What if” – it happened to me.
I quote: “He armed himself and walked down a passage shouting; "Get the f.... out of my house!!" and “My concern is, Reeva was in the bathroom and as he shouted the same words on a few occasions, surely, as it was only the two of them in the house, she must have heard him?? Any normal person, will surely respond with, for argument sake: "Oscar it is me in the toilet!!"
Correct. Oscar shouted “Get the f.... out of my house!!"
He didn’t shout: “Get the f… out of my toilet!!”
Like most people I have analysed the evidence over and over. I envisaged the late Reeva hiding behind the door, hearing Oscar shouting at a supposed intruder in the house to: “Get the f… out of my house!”
I then envisaged being in Reeva’s situation - in total darkness behind an unlocked toilet door at the moment that Oscar shouted at the supposed intruder to get out of his house.
What would have crossed my mind if I were Reeva? Possibly: “Where is the intruder?” “Is he armed?” “Is he coming my way?” “I have to lock the door!”
If I had been Reeva I would have remained totally silent – and slowly, softly locked the door.
Which is what the evidence leads me to believe she did (as she was standing upright close to the door when the shots were fired) – which led to what Oscar heard – the sound of her locking the door – the sound that triggered his fatal reaction.
If Oscar had shouted: “Get the f… out of my toilet!!” – then Reeva would instantly have known that Oscar thought she was the supposed intruder, in which case she surely would have responded by shouting back at him.
That is the only scenario that makes sense to me.
