Dear Spur
About two years ago I had an experience that in retrospect I could also attribute to racism from your staff. The Spur in question is the Mountainview Spur, Harrismith.
My two daughters have their birthdays two days apart as luck would have it. They told me that they would like to have their birthdays at the local Spur, excitedly expecting to have the team sing happy birthday to them.
My youngest excitedly told the waitress that was serving us that it was their birthday which received virtually no acknowledgement. When our drinks arrived she repeated herself which was received with a sigh as response.
Around the corner from us was a (gasp) black family who also celebrated a birthday and there was loud singing of happy birthday to that person. Further this there were several other errors in service and judgement from the staff which completely ruined the day.
I wrote my complaint in the guest comment book, to Hello Peter and sent a letter to Spur directly.
What did I get, a call from some manager at that specific Spur asking me to please come back so that I can see that this is not the normal service.
That is it. Of course, I did not see it as racism at the time, maybe I should have, but since then I have not set foot in a Spur as they seem to only care about one specific segment.
Can I also be contacted by the directors of Spur for the hurt caused to my two daughters? No, didn't think so.
