Students and what they want and where it goes

To the students of south africa that think that they have been wrongly promised the a free education. I would like to talk to you about reality and how promises should be forgiven or forgotten when the promise was made with the incorrect numbers or estimations.

Firstly the promise was made before the 1994 elections. This no doubt caused some problems because the government at that stage did not know how many non-whites there were in the country. Then the promise was made with the understanding that there was:

The number of professionals in the country,

The number of professors (qualified personnel that can teach a subjects in University)

The number of students expected each year.

The number of students South African universities can hold.

The growth of the number of Viable Students that can got to universities.

The number of students that qualify in a profitable time.

We know in the last 20 years we have lost more than 50% of our professionals and 20% of our professors.

We know that the matric pass rate has gone up but the students are worse than before at accomplishing meager tasks, such as basic algebra. Thus the total number of students Viable for Universities would go up due to government pressure but the number of students that qualify in a profitable time goes down.

The number of students that the universities can hold has not really changed as the universities need major space and funding the build the lecture halls, so the number of students that can be housed in South African universities has not changed.

So the students of today say it is possible to take another 50% of the professionals from the profitable fields make them come to the education field and train to be professors. This will take a few years not only that the professors that professionals. So now we have industrie shortfall of 75% of the professionals to keep this country turning.

But it will only take a few years to train up viable students to fill the spaces. It will take a about 2 years to train the professionals to professors and another 4-8 years to train the students, this will take to me to the next point how many of those students are going to be viable for industry. Much less than what we get now from universities. It is about quality over quantity. It will take 10 years to get any professional that can work in the industry and that is not even guaranteed.

Then there is the student influx due to cronyism and corruption these are students that will fulfill a career as a student, basically use the education system to keep them alive so they never have to work. Or students that can not grasp the concept of what they are studying and repeat year after year. These are the failed students, they will never become profitable to the country and work together as a whole with others.

What are the students doing besides giving us in the industry AWESOME raises as there are less and less skills to fill the holes. I don't mind them continuing personally because the longer it lasts the better. But I do feel sorry for those that want nothing to do with this and want to move on with their lives. It has been a year since the students started when are they going to wake up that crying like a baby only gives power to those that you cry to.
