The danger of politicising our judicial system

All our jurisprudence and judicial organs should be protected.

The judicial system of RSA is in danger of being relegated to a mere political contestation field. All of our juristic organs are in danger of being captured or being used to settle political scores. The recent political activities which were/are being played between judiciary and political parties have by far awakened me to caution South Africans (my country people) of the danger of using our courts as political play grounds. Recently Justice Dikgang Mosekeke warned us about this?  Be it our courts, Public protector’s office, the police or National Prosecution Authority; all are being used in the name & game of political scrabble.

Politicians are now using courts as political grounds to settle political scores.  Be warned South Africans. South Africa is one of the countries in the world which have a viable judicial system and a constitution, but recently our politicians have put the independency and viability of such system into danger of being inadequate.

Yes, South Africa has one of the most beautiful constitutions in the world, but if we continue to misuse and misdirect our judicial organs, then we will be running into danger of killing our judicial system. Look what has happened between NPA and Minister Pravin Gordon. Look back at what happened to former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela vs pro-Zuma supporters. All our judicial components were formed and tasked with the duties of being the custodians of our constitution and protectors of citizens, but now they are forever under attack, or misused by politicians. No one should be allowed to use our judicial system for personal-selfish reasons; not even Presidents, Chief justices, Ministers, Businesspersons or even our prosecutors.

If we were to do the right thing now: we were going to fight to make Public Protector’s office more accessible to the public at large, not accessible only to politically connected few, but to all our people. Politicians must stop using our judiciary to score political goals.
