The race card is as bad as racism

Two people had a heated argument in the Spur restaurant at the The Glen shopping centre because one was upset the others' child had hit their child on the head in the play area. Kids do such things and parents have an obligation to try and correct their action when they are alerted to it. They should apologise for their childrens' action and console the victim, that's the right thing to do.

Did this happen in this case? We don't know. Did the victims father approach the offenders mother with courtesy and deal the situation in a polite manner? Again, we don't know.

What we know is that it escalated into a swearing heated argument in front of children. We don't know what was said between these people to spark the heated exchange.

What we do know was that the offenders mother, a black lady, called the victims father, a white man a "bully and a racist".
Was he being racist? Again we don't know the details of the discussion but the article doesn't give any sign he said anything racist, so we are led to believe she is accusing him of racism because she is black and he is white. It's the classic "cry racism" tactic in South Africa - the racist card which some black people think they can play when they're out of options, when they want to try get the upper hand against a white person. If the white guy did not say anything racist, you cannot accuse him of racism.

Perhaps the white guy would have approached a white woman in the same way? Then he'd not be racist. So why cry racism?
Just like there is talk of introducing harsher laws against people who are truly being racist, there should be a law against false accusing someone of racism. Playing the race card when there was no clear racism should be as illegal as saying something racist. It defames a person, challenges their integrity yet is used all too frequently with impunity. In this country, being labelled a racist can affect someone enormously, affecting their reputation, confidence and their earnings.

If this white guy was not being racist but simply being aggressive / annoying / rude (pick one) then you cannot call him a racist because the other person was black.

Before I get chastised for this letter, I'm not saying he was or wasn't being racist as we don't know but if he wasn't then this woman has in my mind committed a horrible racist crime.
