Unusual Decision by SABC.

The irrational and frivolous decision by the SABC to stop showing violent protests on television is beyond comprehension. Or is it perhaps a subtle ploy to silence the press.

If this is the case, it shall never work. Almost two hundred years ago it did not work either. There is simply no way in today's society that this can ever be successful.

If it is not shown on SABC, people will simply find a news outlet that will give the whole picture to them.

This is probably the most irrational decision ever taken by an organization, and it is therefore justifiable that SANEF should object to it. I am in full agreement with SANEF.

The reason for the protest is that government made promises to people that were not kept. Of course this will explode into violence. One cannot make promises to people just to get their votes, and then calmly walk away.

In each sizable city, the problems concerning electricity, sewerage, roads, water supply are legendary. Existing infrastructures have either collapsed or they are on the verge thereof. In Welkom, Free State, new extensions are planned without the slightest planning being done for electricity supply!!!

This cannot ever be acceptable. When everything explodes, the press must be silenced to suppress the problem.

A far better solution would be to fix the problem not the press.

Mr. Motsoeneng, your suggestion borders on what can be safely said to be absurd. It has no chance of a successful implementation. It never has worked in the past, nor will it work now.
