I was shocked when I read about Pastor Andre Olivers allegations. It is very disturbing; mostly considering the position that he is in. As a pastor one would expect him to be the spiritual father of all the congregants, regardless of the race. While still these are allegations, I wonder when we shall have truth in this matter.
One of the allegation towards him is when he alleged to have said “Black people are lazy, white people never stole the land, they have it because they are favored by God”
Pastor, don’t rub our open wounds. As much as we need healing from God that you preach, we don’t need condemnation. As matter of fact, the bible declares that God doesn’t condemn. I am failing to understand your remarks pastor, I feel that they are uncalled for and seek to encourage the white supremacy in this country. If white people didn’t steal the land, why then we have black families that are forcefully removed from their land by white people? To forcefully remove people without permission from them, isn’t that stealing? Is that hard work you are talking about?
And by the way, is God white? Does only God favors white people? Or does He only listen to the prayers of white people? From what I have read and what I believe in, it is that God is spirit, from the Moses (Man who saw God Face to face), he never saw white God but he saw God of everyone. God is not racist and as a matter of fact He loves everyone.
I don’t want to talk about laziness, because I am sure that we have very dedicated and very hard working black people in this country. By the way, how old were you when “black like me” brand was household name? Or when you are thirsty and in need of some energy, have you tried to buy Mo-Faya? I hope that shares some light.
We should not drag the name of the Lord to the messes that are man-made. We as the black nation we have been so forgiving and very kind to white people. We instituted the commission of reconciliation, purely on the basis of Ubuntu and such kind of acts white people must not take for granted.
I read about your explanation, saying that your words were taken out of context and were misunderstood. You further indicated that even Jesus used to offended people. By the way, Jesus never offended people by condemning them; He challenged people to be the best they can through Him. By condemning masses of this country, you will never get the best out of them, which will be contrary to the bible that you preach.
Dear Pastor, I know that damage is done now; all the explanations are there to calm the situation. May you and I come to an agreement that it was just a right time to say wrong things? The only thing that will calm the situation is apology, apology to the entire black community, to the black men and women who are working hard to change their fortunes. Apology to the young black men and women who are working very hard to have a better future. The land was stolen in this country and unfortunately that is the wound that at all cost we won’t like you to open it.
I am not trying to discredit the results of hard work, but condemning people with the hope that right message will sink in, will never do us as the nation any favor.
The time was right, just the wrong words slipped through your mouth.
