When fast fashion doesn’t have to mean cheap and nasty: why organic cotton is the best money you will spend
CAPE TOWN – In a day and age when “fast fashion” means cheap (synthetic) and nasty (likely bad for the planet or someone in the supply chain), it’s refreshing to find good-quality garments that stand for a little more. As with most things, it all starts with what it’s made of.
WHY COTTON?
The list of the benefits of cotton seems endless. It’s soft, absorbent and breathable, which means it doesn’t trap nasty odours. A renewable resource, cotton is a natural fibre, which makes it biodegradable. And, from a value-for-money perspective, it’s strong and durable, therefore longer lasting if cared for.
