There's an app for that: how apps have changed us

"There's an app for that" is more than just Apple's marketing mantra. Mobile apps have emerged over the last 10 years or so for practically every need in a person's day and changed our lives.

You get your news, a lift, find directions, order food, watch video - all via apps that make you smart phone a personal computer.

According to the app-tracking firm Flurry, the world has adopted smart phones and tablets 10 times faster than it embraced personal computers in the 1980s, twice as fast as90’s Internet boom and three times faster than joining social networks. According to a report published by Hootsuite and We Are Social, 2.549 billion people currently use apps, with 85% of people preferring native mobile apps to websites.
