1 killed, 3 injured in Olievenhoutbosch shooting

Centurion – A man was killed and three others injured during a shootout with police in Olievenhoutbosch township near the R55, Centurion on Friday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics found a car lying on the side of the road in a ditch.

The scene attracted a large crowd of nearby community members.

Meiring said he found one of the men in the township. He had already died from his injuries.

He said three other men were found a short distance from their car.

The men sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

They were transported to Tembisa Provincial Hospital.

A fourth man, who was in police custody, escaped unharmed.

"It is understood that the authorities had allegedly been chasing the suspects when their light motor vehicle crashed. A shootout then occurred between the authorities and suspects."

Police could not immediately comment on the incident.
