Johannesburg - Eleven people were injured in a head-on collision between two minibus taxis on Grayston Drive, above the M1 highway, in Sandton, Johannesburg on Friday morning, paramedics said.
The two wrecked taxis were found in the middle of the busy road, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
Three of the 11 injured were in a critical condition.
The driver of one of the taxis was critical.
"Paramedics found the driver lying trapped inside the vehicle.
"Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the man from the wreckage," said Meiring.
All the injured were transported to hospital for further treatment.
