11-year-old girl on bicycle dies after being hit by car

Pietermaritzburg – An 11-year-old girl was killed after she was hit by a vehicle in Copesville, Pietermaritzburg, on Friday morning.

“It is understood the driver did not notice the young girl cycling in the middle of the road,” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

The vehicle was parked a short distance away from where the girl was found, paramedics said.

When they arrived on the scene they found the girl lying in the middle of the road. She had multiple injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
