Bloemfontein - Two suspected drug dealers are expected to appear in the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday after they were caught with 80 bags of dagga on the Lesotho border on Thursday afternoon.
The men, aged 24 and 28, were arrested after they crossed the border at Peka Ports of Entry, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thandi Mbambo told News24.
The police stopped the two men’s blue Ford Courier double cab bakkie and searched it. The bags of dagga were wrapped in black plastic and fastened to the underside of the chassis with binding wire.
“The dagga weighed almost 74kg and has a street value of R103 000.
“We often catch drug smugglers in the Ladybrand and Ficksburg area, mostly with dagga being brought in from Lesotho. We believe the drugs are destined for Gauteng,” Mbambo said.
