2 dead, 5 injured in KZN accident

Pietermaritzburg - Two men died after a car and a bakkie crashed into each other near Howick, KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday morning, paramedics said.

"When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene, they found debris from the car ... spread over several metres. The car was badly damaged. The bakkie involved in the collision had gone down an embankment into a veld," spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

The front and back passengers of the car died on the scene. Five other people in the vehicles sustained moderate to minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

The cause of the collision would be investigated.
