2 killed in Maphumulo accident

Johannesburg - Two people were killed in an accident near Maphumulo on Saturday, said the KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said sixteen other people sustained serious injuries.

They were all travelling in a 10-seater vehicle.

"Paramedics arrived on scene to discover that tragically two people had sustained fatal injuries, while another 16 patients had sustained mostly serious injuries," said Mckenzie.

The injured were stabilised and treated on the scene before being transported to Maphumulo hospital.

The cause of the accident was unclear.

18 people in a 10 seater vehicle may well be the reason for the accident. Th drivers of overloaded passenger vehicles should be severely penalised.

Wonder why there were only 18 people in the bus, I'm sure there was still space for a lot more. These idiots have absolutely no regard for any rules or regulations, nor do they have any common sense. Africa and its fools.
