3 killed in KZN crash involving car, motorbike and cow

Durban - Two men and a woman were killed in a collision involving a car, a motorbike and a cow on the R56 near Thornville on Saturday night.

KwaZulu-Natal EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said that an ambulance which had been returning from another emergency had happened upon the accident on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg.

“The cause of the accident is unclear at this point and our medics immediately went to work treating the injured people. A cursory investigation and initial indications from the scene indicate that a family was killed, specially a couple and their son,” he said.

McKenzie added that another man had been critically wounded and he was treated and stabilised at the roadside by paramedics before being rushed by ambulance to the Edendale State Hospital for further urgent treatment.
