Alleged car thieves shot and wounded in Alexandra

Johannesburg – Police shot and wounded two alleged car thieves in Alexandra on Monday night.

The occupants of a silver Toyota Corolla began shooting at a police patrol when the officers approached them around 20:00, Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

The officers had been following the satellite tracking signal of the Toyota, which was stolen in Yeoville earlier on Monday.

The police returned fire and wounded the two alleged car thieves. They were taken to hospital under police guard and would appear in court soon.
