Alleged robber injured, two more arrested in Roodepoort

Johannesburg - Police shot and wounded an alleged robber and arrested two others in Florida, Roodepoort, after a house break-in on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Katlego Mogale said the resident was reversing out of his property when the three confronted him and told him to go back inside.

They took him in, tied him and his wife up, and were taking jewellery when quick-thinking employees who live on the property called for help.

They phoned the couple's son and the police.

The alleged robbers tried to get away from the officers by jumping over a back wall, but the police shot at them, injuring one. The other two were caught at the scene.

Police confiscated an unlicensed firearm from the group.

The three will be charged with house robbery.
