Johannesburg - Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir has been spotted at the African Union summit in Sandton this morning when he emerged with other heads of state from their closed-door meeting to pose for a photo opportunity.
Dressed in a navy blue suit and looking relaxed, Bashir gave the thumbs-up to photographers as they took the group photo of the African heads of state.
Sudan's foreign minister, Ali Ahmed Karti, told News24 the International Criminal Court was only targeting African leaders.
"President Bashir is a leading president and a member of the African Union, and he will continue attending summits wherever they are," he said.
Bashir jetted into Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport last night amidst calls for South Africa to arrest him.
