Johannesburg - A woman's body was found near a railway line outside the Bohlokong township in Bethlehem, police said on Sunday.
The body was discovered by a group of young men who were hunting in the area, said Free State police spokesperson Mmako Mophiring.
"She was wearing a brown hat, blue slippers and a blanket."
There were no visible signs of injuries on her body and no foul play was suspected, Mophiring said.
An inquest docket was opened to establish the cause of death.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man was killed when his throat was slit with a broken beer bottle in Bohlokong Phase 7, Mophiring said.
A neighbour saw a man lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police.
"He was found with a slit throat and a broken beer bottle next to him. The motive behind the killing is suspected [to be] robbery," Mophiring said.
A murder docket was opened.
On Friday, a rape convict was arrested in the same area for allegedly raping a 58-year-old disabled woman and removing two of her teeth with a pair of pliers.
Mophiring said the woman knew the man because he used to cut wood for her. On the day of the attack, the two were allegedly drinking beer together.
Mophiring said the man had recently been released from prison after spending seven years for raping another neighbour in the same area. The 26-year-old would appear in the Bethlehem Magistrate's Court on Monday where he would face a rape charge.
