Johannesburg - A child died on Friday morning when he was hit by a car on the R21 in Olifantsfontein, Johannesburg paramedics said.
"Paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg Central branch arrived on scene and found the male child lying in the isle between the two roads," ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
"On assessment, paramedics found that the child had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the child and he was declared dead."
The driver of the car was not injured.
Paramedics were unable to identify the child, aged between 6 and 9, as he had no form of identification. Paramedics were not able to contact the child's parents or guardians.
Police are investigating.
